1982. A shirt factory in Buncrana, Donegal. The livelihood of 5 women is threatened by the recession. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Surprising even themselves, these five women find the strength and spirit to stand up for what they believe to be right. With rapier sharp wit and huge heart, these women pull together as one and take on the might of big business that is just beginning to rear its ugly head.
This stirring, funny and moving play celebrates the strength and vivacity of Irish working women in the face of adversity.
Frank McGuinness – in his first play - took inspiration from his grandmother, mother and his aunts who all worked in the local shirt factories of Buncrana. ‘I was’ he says ‘brought up to appreciate a beautifully made shirt’.
This will be directed by Colin Peter who so beautifully directed "On Golden Pond" for Livingston last year.

We currently have a membership of over 50, ranging in ages from 15 to 72.
The Livingston Players is fully affiliated to The National Operatic and Dramatic Association and The Scottish Community Drama Association and over the years, we have won numerous drama awards for our quality of acting, production and staging, but we continue to strive for improvement in all areas.
The Livingston Players perform three shows each year. One is a musical generally performed last week in May, and the other two are plays produced in January and October. We currently perform our productions in Deans Community High School Theatre....although we hope to move back into our spiritual home of Howden Park Centre next year.
Our rehearsals are on a Monday and Thursday evenings starting at 7.30pm at Carmondean Community Centre, Deans, Livingston.
Musical rehearsals commence early January.
We are always on the look out for new members, both on and off stage and you will be made most welcome.
